Sactown Needs An Ombudsperson Team For Housing
Sactown is in dire need of an ombudsperson team to address the inequities, complaints, and issues within housing programs and services for the community. It would be an Independent collective of qualified Sacramento community members entirely representative of the community members most impacted in Sacramento by racial, gender, and geographical marginalization in disparities for housing/services.
An independent collective would be completely impartial with no financial or relational conflict of interest to housing services to halt and prevent gatekeeping, retaliation, and exploitation that trickles down to impacted community members who should be supported.
The Independent Collective will have regulatory power with housing programs and services with the ability to:
- Provide individuals with a confidential avenue to address inequities, complaints, abuse of rights, contested decisions, resolve issues with programs for housing and services
- Serve as housing liaisons with outside agencies, neighborhoods groups, and the bridge between the City and County of Sacramento programs

Every Voice Counts on Impact of Local Fines
Fees and Fines Reform for Unsheltered Community
The City and County of Sacramento were selected to participate in the Cities and Counties for Fine and Fee Justice initiative for Fees and Fine Reduction and Reform. Some of our unhoused and those who are housed have technology limitations to attend the on-line reform meetings. CLAP Community Lead Advocacy Program, All Of Us or None, and our community advocates want to assure the feedback of our unsheltered who have been impacted by fines or fees are also heard. Community Reach Ups
CLAP services are led or created with the input of the community most impacted. In 2026 CLAP will continue to do Reach Ups! Indigenous, Black, and Disabled People Are Increasingly Over-represented in the population of unhoused in Sacramento. Black families with children are more than half of the families that are unhoused.
Nothing just happens- For generations, Black and Non-White people denied by law and policies: home ownership, intergenerational wealth, economic opportunities that created a dependency on social services safety nets to be housed and to get other basic needs to survive. The fragmented family structure and lack of viable economics due to systemic oppression is reflected in the overwhelming amounts of Black families unhoused seen in Sactown, today.
